Spain clinched their historic fourth European Championship title, defeating England 2-1 in a thrilling Euro 2024 final held in Berlin on Sunday. Nico Williams, a standout player for Spain throughout the tournament, broke the deadlock early in the second half, slotting the ball into the bottom corner after a precise pass from emerging talent Lamine Yamal, who celebrated his 17th birthday recently.
England responded strongly, leveling the score in the middle of the second half with a superbly placed left-footed strike from Cole Palmer outside the penalty area, setting the stage for a tense finale at the Olympiastadion.
In the dying minutes of regulation time, Spain seized victory when Mikel Oyarzabal tapped in a precise cross from Marc Cucurella, sealing their triumph and capping off an outstanding tournament for La Roja.
This victory marks Spain’s fourth Euro title, adding to their previous wins in 1964, 2008, and 2012. Meanwhile, it is another heartbreak for England in the European Championship, following their loss to Italy on penalties in the Euro 2020 final.
The match started cautiously, typical of a major final, with both teams cautiously sizing each other up despite initial nerves. As anticipated, Spain controlled possession in the first 30 minutes without creating clear scoring chances.

Unai Simón managed to parry the ball away, and Marc Guehi attempted to capitalize on the rebound, only for his shot to be cleared off the line by Dani Olmo of RB Leipzig, prompting jubilant celebrations from Spain’s defense for thwarting yet another English attack.
The Three Lions threw everything into their efforts to force the game into extra time. However, after four additional minutes of play, referee François Letexier blew the final whistle. Spain’s players collapsed to the ground briefly before joining their ecstatic fans, dressed in red and yellow, in celebrating their Euro 2024 triumph inside the stadium.
