Jaylen Brown prefers Angel Reese to Caitlin Clark for ROTY, citing a key factor.

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown recently shared his thoughts on the Rookie of the Year race between Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese. Although Clark is currently the frontrunner for the award, Brown feels Reese has the advantage due to her consistent performance.

Both rookies are having historic seasons, earning All-Star honors and standing out significantly in the ROTY competition. As the WNBA’s Olympic break began on July 21, Clark’s ROTY odds were -2000, while Reese’s were +800, with no other rookie close to their level. Clark has impressed with her scoring and playmaking, including setting the WNBA single-game assist record (19), while Reese has been a consistent double-double performer, breaking the league’s record for consecutive double-doubles (15 games).

In a Boardroom interview on Wednesday, Brown was asked about potential ROTY candidates and promptly named Reese. “Angel Reese [has] got my vote,” Brown said, citing her remarkable consistency in delivering double-doubles. He acknowledged the talent of other players but highlighted Reese’s impressive performance. Brown might have a personal bias, as he is dating Reese’s former Sky teammate, Kysre Gondrezick. Despite this, both Clark and Reese present strong cases for ROTY: Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.5 steals, and 2.7 three-pointers per game over 26 games, while Reese averages 13.5 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.4 steals per game over 24 games.
